D-S-Design Studio Wins the Shaftesbury Chamberpot Award!

On 2nd March 2025, I was incredibly proud to be interviewed by Alfred News after receiving the Shaftesbury Chamber of Commerce Chamberpot Award.

The award includes a £250 grant designed to support local businesses that are actively contributing to the growth of Shaftesbury’s economy — and it meant a great deal to be recognised for the work I do supporting local businesses through web design, branding and digital services 🏆

From hobby to local design studio

During the Alfred News interview, I shared how D-S-Design Studio began.

I built my first website at the age of 16 — originally as a way to share schoolwork — but that early curiosity quickly turned into a genuine passion for design and the web.

My first professional project was creating a website for the musical duo Belle-Street. From there, the studio grew entirely through word of mouth and local connections — something I’m incredibly proud of and deeply grateful for.

That journey reflects what makes Shaftesbury special: a strong sense of community and genuine support between local businesses.

Community, connection and creativity

Working part-time at The Grosvenor Arms has played a huge role in my journey.

It’s where I’ve met countless business owners, creatives and entrepreneurs — many of whom have since become clients, collaborators or long-term supporters of D-S-Design Studio.

One of the things I love most about working locally is how a simple conversation over coffee can turn into a meaningful working relationship built on trust, creativity and shared values ☕️

Investing in growth and the future

Winning the Chamberpot Award has allowed me to reinvest directly into the studio.

That includes improving marketing materials, upgrading professional design tools, and investing in resources that help me continue delivering high-quality websites, branding and digital support for clients.

It’s also encouraged me to keep expanding my services — helping more businesses across Shaftesbury and Dorset create clear, functional websites that genuinely support their growth.
