Joanne Rutter Ceramics is a local pottery studio based in Shaftesbury, Dorset, where Joanne creates timeless, handcrafted ceramic pieces.
With no previous website, Joanne needed a professional online platform that could present her extensive body of work, highlight her creative process, and provide room for her business to expand into e-commerce and workshops.
2️⃣ The Challenge
The goal was to design a website that would serve both as a digital gallery and a long-term business tool — one that looked refined, functioned seamlessly, and could grow with her practice.
The site needed to manage over 60 product listings while maintaining simplicity, elegance, and focus on the artistry of each piece.

I designed a clean, minimal website using a soft, neutral palette and simple typography to keep attention on Joanne’s ceramics.
Each piece is presented with professional imagery, detailed descriptions, and optional availability tags for future e-commerce functionality.
A fully integrated CMS system allows Joanne to upload new works, update collections, and manage workshop information with ease.
The site architecture was built for scalability, ready for integration with class bookings and a Square-powered online store as her business evolves.

The finished website gives Joanne a serene, modern digital home that celebrates her craftsmanship while preparing her for future growth.
It’s both an online portfolio and a business foundation — reflecting the calm, tactile beauty of her ceramics and connecting her to a wider audience across Dorset and beyond.
